Another reason i can’t stand glee is the consistent inconsistency.
I said two months ago that if a character wanted screen time in season 4, they would have to be wherever Rachel Berry or Blaine Anderson is… I guess people thought i was being ridiculous. Then we noticed the writers trying to FORCE a Rachel-Santana friendship out. of. nowhere. I knew what the deal was at that moment.
A month ago, they released a video of Naya Rivera saying she wanted Santana Lopez to go to LA with Mercedes Jones. I was a bit surprised, not because of the idea, but because she was voicing it. I thought the idea was awesome and made sense for their characters seeing as how they’re actually friends with similar interests who sound AMAZEBALLS together. But if it really happened it would almost guarantee we wouldn’t see her much unless they were somehow going to involve Brittany or, more importantly for screen time, Kurt.
Fast forward to now, and we get this quote:
“[Rivera] and I were begging [Murphy], ‘We want to work together more and want Rachel and Santana to be in New York together,’” Michele says. “We’re still not certain where exactly Santana is going to end up but she has the golden ticket to New York City.” Adds Rivera: “If Santana goes to New York, she absolutely would have a relationship with Rachel, and they’d either be friends, enemies or frenemies — or all three.” source: THR
Basically, Naya realized Amber and Heather aren’t really coming back too often and she wants to be a major part of the show… so she better fight for Santana to go to New York.
My thing is.. the only way this makes sense is if they’re frenemies. This would have to be a show full of Maxine Shaw vs Regine Hunter which is great as long as Regine’s tears aren’t forced on us (that’s the BEST way I can describe it based on the television i’ve watched in my lifetime… sorry if you don’t get the reference). Either way, I am not interested in more pezberry duets. I mean if you’re going to put this awkward and forced relationship in my face at least make sure the music is up to par… “A Boy Like That” was okay but the trifecta of “I Kissed A Girl”, “We Found Love”, and that blasphemous “So Emotional” drowned that out with a vengeance. Those shits are painful. As will be season 4 which I’m finding more reasons to ignore altogether. Just let me know when Amber/Mercedes is making an appearance or Naya is singing non-pop solos. The rest of this can kick rocks with an open-toe shoe.
